What a surprise on a supposed blah day
June 14, 2022
Since we still get up rather early regardless of vacation or not, after our morning walk around the RV park(1/2 mile loop) we got on the road to Lewiston, ID. As we made our walk we got to see some of the most unusual RV’s we had ever seen.
These RV’s were part of a rally at this campground. This was to be another day on the road(blah). There were two ways to go. One way was half of what we did yesterday to Hells Canyon and the other was just a different way. We were totally overwhelmed as we drove the route. Jan kept saying WOW. If fact she said it so much, I want her to look for another adjective to describe what we were seeing. Our route went up the Payette River.
At one point there were close to miles of really tough white water. The river sits at the bottom of some of the most unusual HILLS
you have ever seen. They were rounded and treeless with lots of grass. There was no way to photograph these and show how they made us feel.
When we finally topped out our climb we had a 7% decent for 7 miles. Luckily there were turn outs for us to let others by. We don’t do the speed limit when travelling on hills like these with few guard rails and a raging river to the side. At the bottom we reached the plains.
Miles and miles of flat and beautiful land. This made me think of the song “America”. Everything in the song fit what we saw.
