Lost a day then recovery

June 8-9

Well one of those unpredictable things happened.  After putting new shoes on our RV, we had a flat.

It was caused by a valve being put too close to the wheel itself.  The wheel rubbed a hole in the in the valve stem.

Luckily, we discovered it at our campground and before the tire blew out or disintegrated.  I found the problem before the tire stores were closed by 15 minutes.  However, none of the stores could get our tire for us.  We had to place an order that could be delivered the next day.  Of course, the tire came in a little late that morning and it took about an hour to deliver from Bozeman to our place in Livingston, about 30 miles.  The man came and worked for over an hour to remove and reinstall it back.  Thank goodness that he was able to get it done.  After calling our next campground(where we were to be this night) Jan was able to workout a plan to move us back a day and still get what we wanted.  This won’t affect the rest of our trip after dropping one day later, that we feel was overkill.

On Wednesday we started for Pocatello.  Driving through Bozeman,

then down to West Yellowstone and from there to Idaho Falls and on to Pocatello.  It was a beautiful drive that I hope the pictures will help you see too.  Driving down valleys with snow capped mountains on both sides.

If you happened to watch the TV show Yellowstone, these beautiful valleys looked like the ranch on it.

We were just a few miles out of West Yellowstone when we came upon an area that in 1959 had terrible landslide that destroyed two halves of two mountains slid

into a valley and created a lake

on the Madison River.  This slide killed over 20 people, destroying a campground and a small resort.  The slide happened in the middle of the night and only lasted only 20 seconds.

The drive from West Yellowstone to Pocatello was through farmland.  Lots of wheat and potatoes.
