Road to Weed
June 24, 2022
Our day started with a temperature of 35 degrees. Rather nippy. After getting ourselves together we hit the road. So much of this trip was down a beautiful valley where farmers were planting their crops (have no idea what it was).
There fields were so dry and their tractors were very different from those back on the Highland Rim. As we climbed a major hill before Klamath Falls, OR, I looked in the distant and spotted a large snow-capped mountain. It was Mt. Shasta.
We were over 120 miles from it at that time. When it came time for lunch we pulled off at a former motel. This motel was burned by forest fires that took most of the hill in front of it.
Arriving at our campground in Weed, California and setting up, I noticed that Mt. Shasta was just out the back of the campground.
Pretty spectacular.
We drove to the visitors center to get an idea of our choices for tomorrow. The lady there was most helpful and gave us some really nice opportunities.
Also, I wanted to show the fuel prices here in the top of California. We expect it to get higher before we leave the state. Presently, my credit card is nearly worn thin paying these prices.
