To Hells Canyon and back.

June 13, 2022

Currently, we are in one of the best RV campgrounds we have seen in 14 years of RVing.  We are in Caldwell, ID.  After spending a full day of driving in a sloppy rain most of yesterday, we had a fairly nice day today, just a few sprinkles.  Our understanding is, that back in Cookeville, the temperatures are in the high 90s.  Our temperature today reached just over 60 during the day and last night it was about 44.  This is what we were hoping for.

Our road trip, by car, today was to go to “Hells Canyon”.  It was a little over a 2 hour drive

and one of the most unusual places we have seen in sometime.  For the last 50 miles we only saw two other vehicles.  I pulled over and let them go by.  There were a few campgrounds down along the river but not that full.  Hells Canyon is formed the Snake River.

Down this canyon there were 3 dams that are the power source for much of the area.  The canyon walls were steep and looked like they were volcanic in origin.  This canyon is nearly 2000' deeper than Grand Canyon.  This is in their literature.
