Trip from St. Joseph, Mo to Charles City, Iowa
Day 3 Trip from St
Joseph, Mo to Charles City, Iowa
Starting the morning by enjoying a nice walk on the Katy Trail
then hitting the road to Charles City, Iowa. The picture of our RV next to a beautiful one. That RV
belongs to one of the owners(family) that is putting a new business in Cookeville. The business is going into the old Kmart building. It is going to be called Big R Farm and Home. This will be there first store in Tennessee and will be very close to the same style of store that is in Rural King in Crossville. He has been real happy working with the Cookeville officials.
Hitting the road was not so much us hitting the road as the
road beating us up. The route took us up
US highways across Iowa. Only the last
40 miles smoothed out to calm our nerves.
We made the reservations over 4 months ago and at that time the Charles City park was under 6” of snow. We have noticed in the last 100 miles that the trees still are greening out. In the campground there are spring flowers still blooming. A bonus of this park is that it sits on a river
and has, what appears to be an old railroad bed trail just 100 feet from our campsite.
This is one of the most relaxing parks we have ever been to. Big trees and winding roads along side the
river and a beautiful private lake.
