Twin Falls and Shoshone Falls
Day 11 From Pocatello to Shoshone Falls
When planning these RV trips, we have to look at campgrounds that can serve as a “base” and drive out for the adventures. Today we drove to Twin Falls but found out there is no such thing as “twin falls”. The falls have dried. However, we did get to see a very unusual falls, Shoshone
. This is a series of falls on the Snake River. According to the literature, Shoshone is higher than Niagara Falls. If it is, it had to be measured from the upper falls all the way to the base. Not just one fall. Regardless, this is really spectacular.
Before getting there, we crossed the Snake River bridge into the town of Twin Falls.
This bridge is a lot like the “New River Bridge” in West Virginia. The fun thing about this bridge is that “base jumpers”
are allowed to jump from it without permits. While we were there, there were 4 base jumpers to jump.
I couldn’t push the right button on my camera. This is where I think someone needs to see a head doctor before doing this. About a half mile up river is the ramp that Evil Knievel used to attempt jumping the Snake River.
Our drives have allowed us to see lots of interesting
western features.
