We may not be in Tennessee but we still awaken at about the same time as home.  Hitting the road at 6:30 is a good thing out here.  First the temperature is about 55 degrees, low traffic and most importantly the wind is not a factor.  The down side is when headed east the sun is directly in the face.

I can’t imagine what the attraction to this desert is.  At one of our breaks, I got out to make a couple pictures.

The ground was so dry that each step I made the grass crunched.  Miles and miles of NOTHING.

I need to mention at one point there were large bugs walking on the interstate.  The bugs appeared to be about 2-3” in length and about 1” tall.  Luckily they didn’t fly or we might have had a cracked windshield.  Sometimes in the distance there may be a mountain but is so far away.  We had one little canyon to as we started.

With the kitties as our passengers, we make a few stops to let them stretch their legs.  It also helps to keep the driver fresh (as much as possible at this age).  We only traveled 360 miles today but the wind was picking up and that makes driving a lot more difficult.  We are less than 50 miles from Utah.
